I don’t know why but I’ve always been fascinated by everything that has something to do with weddings. Not for the symbolism, or because I wanted very much to be a bride, but for all the decorations, the colors, the cookies and for all those little details that make a wedding unique.
When I start looking up a certain thing about a wedding, I just can’t stop. I’m extremely excited about everything I find and I just lose track of time.
You know that the wedding cake is also called the bride’s cake, so take extremely care when choosing it. It doesn’t matter if your guests are not pleased by the steak or the fish is not well cooked. If the cake is sensational, everything else will just fade away. When I think about a wedding, the first things that occur in my mind are the bride’s dress, hairstyle, and of course the cake.
And because I know that some of you are future brides, today I decided to show you a selection of amazing wedding cakes.
Although I try to be as organized as possible, unfortunately I gather all sorts of gadgets and accessories. It’s inevitable, I can’t help it! It’s in my DNA!
And of course there are always little gadgets that I want to buy, but I got used to think twice before buying anything. Basically I wonder if it’s worth the investment, if I will use it at least 2 times a month. If the answer is yes, I buy it right away. If the answer is no, I reconsider it.
Below I made a list for you of various kitchen gadgets that I find most useful.Continue reading »
I always liked to have a nice arranged holiday table. But usually on Christmas my husband and I are always on the road, so I cannot set up the Christmas dinner table as I would like to. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have a million ideas. Today I will present you some pictures of various napkin rings perfect for the Christmas dinner. Of course, you can use it also for New Year’s Eve table or for any other festive dinner.
And yes, they are all made by me. In the upcoming days I will show you how to make your own. Until then, just try to imagine it yourselves. Put your imagination at work. And do not limit yourself at just what I did. Try to make your own napkin rings and the dinner arrangement will gain a wonderful festive air.
You can do it for yourself, but I’m sure some people will appreciate it if they will receive it as a gift (like me, for example). Which one do you want to learn first how to make?
As you’ve probably noticed, there’s very little time before Christmas. But I did noticed this too late, and therefore I haven’t even started the preparations. So last week I went shopping for various tree decorations. Of course the supermarket was very crowded and don’t even get me started about the enormous prices they have during this time of the year.
So I’ve decided that instead of buying new decorations I will use some from the last year and I will also make some new ones. You know, to make it a little different. And what cheaper material you know besides paper? I “visited” my childhood memories when I was using this material to create various masterpieces for school. Of course I photographed every step to show you how it’s done.
I often need to embellish a project, be it a pillowcase, a blanket or a clothing item. One of my favorite methods is using buttons. These tiny and seemingly insignificant objects can give a splash of color and elegance to many things.
Many times I was in a bit of a trouble because I have not found the right buttons. Yes, there are a lot of buttons in the market but I don’t have time to go out for hours looking for the perfect button. But one day I found the best solution: fabric covered buttons. It was a great idea and I could not explain to myself why I haven’t thought about it sooner.
You can also purchase kits to make your own fabric covered buttons, but it costs around 13 lei / 6 buttons which seems too much. My method is as simple as using the kit, but muuuuuuuch cheaper.
This year I received many gifts for my birthday. Among them was a gorgeous vintage jewelry box. But, unfortunately, I have so many jewelry boxes that its fate was to remain almost empty. Because I wanted to see it every day I found another use for it: a tea box.
I am a big tea drinker and I always wanted a box where I can store my tea bags. Now I have found the best solution and I will show you how simple the whole process was.
The other day I heard this question and I did not believe it: “What is a gourd?”. I was telling a friend about a future project and she stopped me with this question. I was appalled, actually I did not know what to answer her. The problem wasn’t that I did not know what it is, but I’m amazed that some people have not heard of gourds.
Having lived several years in a campus and meet people from all over the country, I’ve heard various words that I did not know what they mean, but that’s because they were regionalisms. I did not know the term “gourd” is a regionalism …
So I decided to share this information with everyone, I’m sure my friend is not the only one who never heard of this word.
Before I got started on my mini indoor garden, I spent a lot of time documenting about it. And not because it didn’t seemed an interesting project, but because I was so excited that I didn’t want to pass anything by. And of course, as the internet is full of all the information we want, this time it helped me tremendously. I even found some advice from people who have tried a project like this and have failed. You can learn from any experience and I can only be glad that those people have decided to share their failure with us.
So I chose to make a mini succulent garden. Besides the fact that there are a variety of succulents on the market, these plants have many benefits and are easy to maintain.
So I started conscientiously to work on it, I bought everything I needed and thus was born my first mini indoor garden. Because I wanted to be a simple one, I decided to accessorize it with just a few small, colorful and hand-made mushrooms.
This mini garden can bring a touch of elegance, freshness and color in every corner of our lives: in the bedroom, in the living room or even in the office. They can be also a great gift idea for those special people in our lives: mother, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, etc. I definitely know who I’ll do my next mini garden for.
What do you think about my mini project? I invite you all to try it.
To my surprise, not many people had heard of polymer clay. I won’t give you the definition of polymer because it’s very hard to explain, but all you need to know is that the commercial polymer clay, which is used in jewellery, it’s a paste-like play-doh. But this has something different from a normal dough: in certain conditions, it hardens until you get something like plastic consistency.
The first time I saw these little flags was during high school, at a friend’s birthday. They were the flags of various countries, they didn’t fit in the picture but I stared at them absolutely fascinated by how beautiful these decorations were.
Since then we have seen it everywhere and somehow it has lost it’s charm. It’s part of the landscape and … that’s about it. But they are trivial just because everywhere you look it’s the same pattern.
So I thought: if they are so simple, wouldn’t be fascinating to have such flags for various occasions? Well, they probably already exists. But why spend money on something you could do it yourself?
And because Valentine’s Day was just around the corner, I decided to make some for this occasion.
Yesterday I noticed a piece of wood in my husband’s working area. And as I thought it was very lonely, another great idea popped into my head. So I did not waste any time and I asked him if he needs it.
Fortunately, there were plenty laying around there so he let me take it.
And what do you think I wanted to use it for? To make a handmade desk organizer.
I’m sure you’re wondering : from a simple piece of wood? ? Wellllll along with some other useless things, I successfully completed my project.
How can you not love Pringles potato chips! With their incredible salty taste that you cannot get enough of? I don’t know about you, but when I eat chips, I cannot stop until I finish the whole box. I know it’s not very healthy, but I don’t do it every day. A once in a while pleasure won’t hurt me, right?
And let me tell you another reason why I like it so much. Because of their can. A can of Pringles can easily be turned into a cheap storage space.
It is neither too hot nor too cold, and all nature around us catches a gorgeous colors.
I admit, even if it’s not my favorite season, autumn has a hint of romance out of the ordinary. I like to walk through the fallen leaves, their rustling underfoot feel, throwing myself between them and I love that the trees surrounds me with different flavors.
What do you do on a rainy day when you’re not in the mood for anything?
You waste your time on the internet.
That’s how i developed my passion for handmade things. ‘Surfing’ various websites I found a forum about different techniques of quilling, decoupage and knitting that puts this question in my head:why can’t I do something useful with my time?
I think it’s simple, I have no imagination. But wait, I have plenty of imagination!
I thought I had no no time. But if I give up one hour of internet surfing and 1 hour in front of the TV, I realized I have like 2 hours per day free ! !
Maybe you’re thinking: why? The answer is simple: for you.
I love autumn because it brings us so many fruits, I love winter cause it’s the giving holiday and I adore spring because that’s when all the trees bloom and the town is full of different scents.
But I can truly say that my favorite season is summer.
Yes, I know it’s unbearably hot.
Yes, I know it’s the loudest season.
But summer has that something special that fills my heart with happiness every year: the seaside. I look forward walking down the beach, feeling the wet sand under my feet, run towards the waves or just relaxing under the sun.
For some time I found another thing to collect:corks. And because we like to drink a glass of wine from time to time we collected a few in this past year.
Already some of my friends have learned that corks don’t end up in the trash anymore. They didn’t understand very well why, but friends aren’t here to pop question after question but to help. Even now sometimes they ask me “What are you doing with them?!” but they only received vague answers, because frankly I did not know very well what to do with them either. But I knew for sure that I will find at least one utility. And then the ideas started to flow.
