What do you think I did the other day? I “stole” a basil twig from a friend’s harden. Well of course I asked him before that … or at least I told him. Of course it was probably easier to go to the supermarket and buy a bag of basil seeds, but doing it this way my basil will have a story behind it. And you know how much I love stories. A gift that never gets old is a bottle of wine (or Garonne, Campari, Martini – for the ladies). Of course I am not an exception. I often receive such gifts and I also give it to people who drink it.
Consequently in my house there is a drawer full with booze gift bags. Maybe you think I regift it when buying a bottle of wine for someone, but I always buy it in the last minute so I have no choice but to buy an new gift bag. And so the content of my drawer instead of shrinking it just gets bigger and bigger with each passing birthday.
This year I bought a few small gifts. You know: strong essences are kept in small containers. And I thought that than buying new gift bags, I can transform those old booze gift bags into smaller cute ones. Some may say that such a bag doesn’t cost more than a nickle, but why waste money when we have the perfect solution at home?
And because it is not hard to make such a transformation, I decided that this will be a photo tutorial. You’ll understand only from pictures, you are a smart person! Continue reading
As you’ve probably noticed, there’s very little time before Christmas. But I did noticed this too late, and therefore I haven’t even started the preparations. So last week I went shopping for various tree decorations. Of course the supermarket was very crowded and don’t even get me started about the enormous prices they have during this time of the year.
So I’ve decided that instead of buying new decorations I will use some from the last year and I will also make some new ones. You know, to make it a little different. And what cheaper material you know besides paper? I “visited” my childhood memories when I was using this material to create various masterpieces for school. Of course I photographed every step to show you how it’s done.
Sorry I haven’t written for a while on this blog but I was very busy with a big project. Unfortunately, it’s not yet finished so I’ve decided to make a smaller one to keep you up to date with the latest projects I have in mind.
This is a very simple tutorial that if you follow exactly you’ll get a gorgeous pearl bracelet that you can easily wear with any outfit.
I often need to embellish a project, be it a pillowcase, a blanket or a clothing item. One of my favorite methods is using buttons. These tiny and seemingly insignificant objects can give a splash of color and elegance to many things.
Many times I was in a bit of a trouble because I have not found the right buttons. Yes, there are a lot of buttons in the market but I don’t have time to go out for hours looking for the perfect button. But one day I found the best solution: fabric covered buttons. It was a great idea and I could not explain to myself why I haven’t thought about it sooner.
You can also purchase kits to make your own fabric covered buttons, but it costs around 13 lei / 6 buttons which seems too much. My method is as simple as using the kit, but muuuuuuuch cheaper.
This year I received many gifts for my birthday. Among them was a gorgeous vintage jewelry box. But, unfortunately, I have so many jewelry boxes that its fate was to remain almost empty. Because I wanted to see it every day I found another use for it: a tea box.
I am a big tea drinker and I always wanted a box where I can store my tea bags. Now I have found the best solution and I will show you how simple the whole process was.
I don’t know if I ever told you, but I’m a big fan of the Two Broke Girls show. Simply the idea of two girls with completely different characters that can live together and even launch together their business seems like an inspiration to me.
Surely everyone who watched at least one episode noticed the beautiful necklace that Caroline always wears. Of course I laid my eyes on it and I decided to made one.
I write this article with a delay of several weeks. I already said I became a lazy person lately, but I am trying to change.
A good friend asked me a few months ago if i can make her a bottle pendant. Of course I had other things to do and I forgot. But reminding me that her birthday is coming soon, I decided that besides the present itself, I should make her the pendant she desired.
Today when I looked through the phone, I found this picture and decided to teach you how to make this lovely bottle pendant.
Last weekend it was a friend’s birthday. We laughed, we danced and we had a great time. So great, that the host forgot she had a gorgeous hair style and decided to pin her hair in a pencil.
She was not the first person I saw doing this, and it seems a huge evidence of her creativity.
Unfortunately I cannot pin my hair like that because mine is thin and slippery. But I decided to decorate several hair sticks o because I think they make ingenious gifts. Continue reading
I am convinced that almost every day you throw away papers: magazines, newspapers, lectures, etc.
Today I will present you an idea to reuse these scrap: making your own recycled paper.

Before receiving a gift you always see the packaging. It can sometimes give yiu a clue to what it’s inside, at least about it sizes.
Thinking about this, I have created especially for you a pyramid box. You cannot find something like this for sale so I assure you that it will be a splash.
*the template you can download here: Pyramid box template *cardboard paper *scissors *cord *glue or double-sided tape
Cut out the pattern.
Bend it on the interior stripes and make a hole in each end of each side.
Glue three sides on each other, and the fourth one left it unbound. This will be the “door” of the box.
Insert the cord through the 4 holes and your pyramid box is ready.
Which one is your favorite?
The first time I saw these little flags was during high school, at a friend’s birthday. They were the flags of various countries, they didn’t fit in the picture but I stared at them absolutely fascinated by how beautiful these decorations were.
Since then we have seen it everywhere and somehow it has lost it’s charm. It’s part of the landscape and … that’s about it. But they are trivial just because everywhere you look it’s the same pattern.
So I thought: if they are so simple, wouldn’t be fascinating to have such flags for various occasions? Well, they probably already exists. But why spend money on something you could do it yourself?
And because Valentine’s Day was just around the corner, I decided to make some for this occasion.
Any woman knows that the secret to a great outfit are the accessories. But not everyone knows how to do this, so nowadays you can find all sorts of bling-bling in the the market, so you won’t have a problem with accessorizing your daily outfits.
Today I decided to show you a tutorial on how to make this lovely book necklace. In fact this mini – book should not necessarily be attached to a necklace. It can be transformed into earrings, a key chain or you can easily attach it to your bag handle to give it a plus of personality.
Yesterday I noticed a piece of wood in my husband’s working area. And as I thought it was very lonely, another great idea popped into my head. So I did not waste any time and I asked him if he needs it.
Fortunately, there were plenty laying around there so he let me take it.
And what do you think I wanted to use it for? To make a handmade desk organizer.
I’m sure you’re wondering : from a simple piece of wood? ? Wellllll along with some other useless things, I successfully completed my project.
How can you not love Pringles potato chips! With their incredible salty taste that you cannot get enough of? I don’t know about you, but when I eat chips, I cannot stop until I finish the whole box. I know it’s not very healthy, but I don’t do it every day. A once in a while pleasure won’t hurt me, right?
And let me tell you another reason why I like it so much. Because of their can. A can of Pringles can easily be turned into a cheap storage space.
For some time I’m looking for a cute stamp kit that includes the alphabet and the numbers.
But I haven’t found one yet at an affordable price.
So for now I decided to do some stamps on my own.
Yesterday a very dear friends of mine (let’s see if she knows I’m talking about her) was wearing a very cute hair bow.
I absolutely loved it so I immediately decided to make a little DIY tutorial.
I know they aren’t so expensive, but you will love them more when you know who made them.
How many times have you found yourself misplacing the needle while sewing? And then you’re carefully looking for it but in the end the needle wins and it stings you.
I found the best solution: a pin cushion.
But of course I wasn’t going to make a usual pin cushion. And while I was looking at my mannequin jewelry holder a crazy idea popped in my head: why don’t I make a mannequin pin cushion?
Yes, I admit, I’m tight with my money. And I will tell you why it’s so easy for me to admit it.
I saw the other day in a window a beautifully decorated box. When I got closer, I noticed it was actually a book. An old book with the inside cut, thus becoming a secret storage box.
Have you ever found yourself in that situation where you know your outfit lacks an accessory but you can’t find it until the very last moment?
I’ve been in that situation many times. So now that I’ve shown you how to organize your bracelets, now I’m going to show you a little trick for your rings.
Giving the fact that lately there’s no room on my fingers then for one ring, I decided to store the others in a gorgeous box .
First of all, I have to explain to you what a “martisor” is.
Martisor is an old Romanian fest celebrated on March the 1st, which according to the old calendar was also considered as the beginning of the new year. In fact “martisor” is actually a red and white string that people in my country attach to their clothes and wear it till the end of March when we tie it to a fruit-tree. It is said that if a dove comes and picks it up, you will have love in your live all year long.
Nowadays we tie that string to almost everything and so we can call it our “martisor“. Usually it is a brooch or just a simple trinket. In some regions of Romania, women give it to men. But in my region, men give it to women. But we all love to share our love and so now both women and men show their appreciation for somebody by giving something symbolic on this beloved holiday.
And because I admit I am a child inside, when this little trinkets appear on the market I am like a kid inside a candy shop.
To me not only snowdrops mark the beginning of spring but also the lovely trinkets that you can find anywhere in this holiday’s eve. Million models in different colors, available to all of us. It usually takes me forever to choose the perfect “martisor” that I give people close to me.
For some time I found another thing to collect:corks. And because we like to drink a glass of wine from time to time we collected a few in this past year.
Already some of my friends have learned that corks don’t end up in the trash anymore. They didn’t understand very well why, but friends aren’t here to pop question after question but to help. Even now sometimes they ask me “What are you doing with them?!” but they only received vague answers, because frankly I did not know very well what to do with them either. But I knew for sure that I will find at least one utility. And then the ideas started to flow.
Today I will show you the easiest three things you can do using them: Continue reading
A few days ago I bought some colored paper to try to lighten up the house a little.
So I thought I’d try to make some roses. Parallel I tried with a piece of newspaper.
Materials you need:

Do you remember when we were kids? I don’t know about you, but I was eager to grow up, finish high school, leave my hometown and come to the capital for college.
Now all I want is to be able to turn back time to be a child again. Not to change things but simply to enjoy my childhood more. To spend more time with friends, to appreciate more the people around me. To take advantage of every moment with my parents and my sister.
Eheeee I know that is not possible, but sometimes nostalgia takes over me.
And so it hit me the other day. I don’t know why, but it brought to my mind middle school and my desk mate.
I remember how we used to go to the library and borrow 2-3 books to make a report (not like now when I just seek information on-line).
So I remembered one of my favorite classes called “technological class” where the teachers helped us materialize our imagination.
And then my next project was born: to recycle a wrapping paper that I kept (for reasons i don’t remember). Continue reading
