Many say that it’s better to not use the microwave because we can get sick. If we were to live by everything we hear, our lives would be chaotic. I couldn’t live without my microwave, especially as I use it not only to heat the food, but to cook it also.
If you are a clean freak and you have time, you can clean the microwave every day.
But if you’re a busy person like me, you only clean it in the weekend, so you need some practical advice.
Most microwaves have a removable tray that you can wash with the dishes. But the most problematic things are the food stains on the interior walls.
Add 1 cup of water in an microwave bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (or orange ) and a few tablespoons of vinegar.
Place the bowl in the microwave, close the door and set it to the highest power. Let it there for 7-10 minutes, depending on it’s power. Watch it until it reaches the bowling point and then leave it there one more minute and it’s done. Then turn the microwave off but do not open the door. Leave the bowl in the microwave for about 15 minutes before removing it. The steam will clean off all the dirt .
After the 15 minutes pass, open the microwave and remove the bowl CAREFULLY with a kitchen mitt or towel.
With a damp cloth wipe off the inside of the microwave. If you still have a few spots in there, you can remove it using a damp cloth sprinkled with a little baking soda. Then leave the door open till the interior dries out.
Now you can put the tray back in and all you have to do is to clean the exterior.
From time to time check the vent holes . If you find them dusty, you can clean it with your vacuum cleaner.
Now the microwave looks like new !
