And yes, they are all made by me. In the upcoming days I will show you how to make your own. Until then, just try to imagine it yourselves. Put your imagination at work.                 You can do it for yourself, but I’m sure some people will appreciate it if they will receive it as a gift (like me, for example). Which one do you want to learn first how to make?

DIY Christmas paper ornament

As you’ve probably noticed, there’s very little time before Christmas. But I did noticed this too late, and therefore I  haven’t even started the preparations. So last week I went shopping for various tree decorations. Of course the supermarket was very crowded and don’t even get me started about the enormous prices they have during this time of the year.

So I’ve decided that instead of buying new decorations I will use some from the last year and I will also make some new ones. You know, to make it a little different. And what cheaper material you know besides paper? I “visited” my childhood memories when I was using this material to create various masterpieces for school. Of course I photographed every step to show you how it’s done.

DIY Covered buttons

I often need to embellish a project, be it a pillowcase, a blanket or a clothing item. One of my favorite methods is using buttons. These tiny and seemingly insignificant objects can give a splash of color and elegance to many things.

Many times I was in a bit of a trouble because I have not found the right buttons. Yes, there are a lot of buttons in the market but I don’t have time to go out for hours looking for the perfect button. But one day I found the best solution: fabric covered buttons. It was a great idea and I could not explain to myself why I haven’t thought about it sooner.

You can also purchase kits to make your own fabric covered buttons, but it costs around 13 lei / 6 buttons which seems too much. My method is as simple as using the kit, but muuuuuuuch cheaper.

I don’t know if I ever told you, but I’m a big fan of the Two Broke Girls show. Simply the idea of two girls with completely different characters that can live together and even launch together their business seems like an inspiration to me.

My first miniature garden

Before I got started on my mini indoor garden, I spent a lot of time documenting about it. And not because it didn’t seemed an interesting project, but because I was so excited that I didn’t want to pass anything by. And of course, as the internet is full of all the information we want, this time it helped me tremendously. I even found some advice from people who have tried a project like this and have failed. You can learn from any experience and I can only be glad that those people  have decided to share their failure with us.

So I chose to make a mini succulent garden. Besides the fact that there are a variety of succulents on the market, these plants have many benefits and are easy to maintain.

  DSC06434

So I started  conscientiously to work on it, I bought everything I needed and thus was born my first mini indoor garden. Because I wanted to be a simple one, I decided to accessorize it with just a few small, colorful and hand-made mushrooms.

This mini garden can bring a touch of elegance, freshness and color in every corner of our lives: in the bedroom, in the living room or even in the office. They can be also a great gift idea for those special people in our lives: mother, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, etc. I definitely know who I’ll do my next mini garden for.

What do you think about my mini project? I invite you all to try it.

Today when I looked through the phone, I found this picture and decided to teach you how to make this lovely bottle pendant.

DIY Hair stick from a pencil

Last weekend it was a friend’s birthday. We laughed, we danced and we had a great time. So great, that the host forgot she had a gorgeous hair style and decided to pin her hair in a pencil.

She was not the first person I saw doing this, and it seems a huge evidence of her creativity.

Unfortunately I cannot pin my hair like that because mine is thin and slippery. But I decided to decorate several hair  sticks o because I think they make ingenious gifts. Continue reading »

I am too lazy

Yes, I admit, lately I transformed myself from the person willing to always create something in a totally different person who’s not in the mood for anything.

Maybe this is also because of me changing the workplace, but I should not find excuses.

And what did I admit that? Continue reading »

Black chocolate cake

And because spring has finally arrived, I went out shopping. Shoes, sandals, jackets … it’s time to restock my wardrobe!

But this week-end was terrible. The rainy weather totally changed my mood. And because it has been a while since I’ve made something sweet (maybe because it’s time to be a little more careful with my weight now that summer is on the door) today I decided to brighten my day with a chocolate cake.

Kitchen labels

Several years have passed since I bought some spice jars from Ikea and I can say they successfully reign in my kitchens. They are a very simple way to keep your kitchen organized. I think you are also sick of tons of bags for which you never find a right place and that break or get wet before finishing the content. It’s true, these jars take up more space but I like having everything within reach.

And because they looked ugly with my old handwritten labels, I decided to make my own collection of labels.

DIY mini flags

The first time I saw these little flags was during high school, at a friend’s birthday. They were the flags of various countries, they didn’t fit in the picture but I stared at them absolutely fascinated by how beautiful these decorations were.

Since then we have seen it everywhere and somehow it has lost it’s charm. It’s part of the landscape and … that’s about it. But they are trivial just because everywhere you look it’s the same pattern.

So I thought: if they are so simple, wouldn’t be fascinating to have such flags for various occasions? Well, they probably already exists. But why spend money on something you could do it yourself?

And because Valentine’s Day was just around the corner, I decided to make some for this occasion.

Pop tab bracelet

The idea for this bracelet is not mine. I admit , it was more an imitation. And I will explain you why.

DSC044344

Talking with a friend the other day he told me that if he would come to see what I have around the house, he would surely throw alooooot of things.

I am convinced that this is so, but for me they all have a utility at one point.

And as we stood there talking, I was playing with a soda can and I was thinking what could I make from it to demonstrate him that not everything should be discarded. I did not come up with any idea in my head so I decided to look for one on the internet. I found a few pictures, but nothing to my liking.

Then I came across a picture that just fascinated me: a pop tab bracelet. It was not what I was looking for, but I began to ” unravel ” the picture and try to figure out how it was made.

Not having multiple pop tabs, later I discussed the project with my husband and what  do you know? He had a few pop tabs laying around the house( god knows why … ) .

And earlier today I got to work.

It didn’t take me very long and I promise that when I will master the technique I will make a tutorial to teach you.

For it I used 20 pop tabs, but this depends on your wrist, and almost a meter of ribbon.

I’m already working on pop tab bracelet No. 2.

Cannot wait to post pictures of the upcoming ones.

And what do you think I wanted to use it for? To make a handmade desk organizer.

Fall decoration

DSC041366

For some people fall is the ideal season.

It is neither too hot nor too cold, and all nature around us catches a gorgeous colors.

I admit, even if it’s not my favorite season, autumn has a hint of romance out of the ordinary. I like to walk through the fallen leaves, their rustling underfoot feel, throwing myself between them and I love that the trees surrounds me with different flavors.

Baked chocolate mousse

Shame on me, but last week I stopped with a friend in a cake cafeteria .

Why shame on me, you ask? I ate the best looking cake, the most appetizing and, I think, the most caloric cake of all.

I liked it so much that I instantly said I have to try it out.

Of course, no one wanted to give me the recipe, so I enjoyed every piece I could to better realize what it contains.

Then I wrote down the recipe on a piece of paper and I started cooking. It did not come out as the one in the cafeteria , I admit … It came out much better!

So I decided to share with you the wonderful result:
